Unlike most shooters I don't show up with just a little ENG "kit", (unless it's a video news release). I own many more lights than the average cameraman! Only so much will fit in my Chevy Astro van so I quiz the client to find out the nature of the shoot and what to bring. In fact, what I have amounts to a small grip truck and if you need more than I own I suggest we rent a grip truck! As of August 2006 here is what I presently own:
- The new Diva Light by Kino Flo. Beautiful fluorescent soft light with built in ballast and dimmer. This light produces NO HEAT and is much thinner than a regular soft box light, allowing us to create beautiful, soft light in very tight situations. As far as I know this is the only one in Chicago.
- The new Lite Panel LED dimmable on camera light. You can see it on top of the camera on my Home Page.
- Dedo Light, for interesting background patterns and close in product photography.
- Rifa Light 500W fast set up umbrella softlight, "when seconds count"!
- 2K Mole Baby Junior.
- 2K Ianero Slim Jim.
- 2-1K Mole Babies.
- 1K Arri.
- 1K Photoflex Softlight with levelours.
- 2 Arri 650 Tweenies.
- 650W Chimera Softlight.
- 2-650W Lowel Omnis.
- 4-200W Mini Moles.
- Lowel Pro Light, battery operated, 100-250W.
- 2 dimmers.
- Ultra Light 2 by Anton Bauer for on camera, with small Chimera. Gives a great natural fill, instantly!
- 3 Flexfills.
- 6' x 6' double net to diffuse harsh sunlight for exterior interviews.
- Stands of many different types including 3 C-stands.
- Nets & flags, 8 shot bags, lots of cable, several apple boxes, 3 furniture pads, carpet runners, duvateen & first aid kit.
- Beautiful grey motelled painted back drop.
- Variable speed turntable for product photography.
- Rosco scrim for hot windows, colored gels, foamcore.
